Before the forest paths and weathered stone of An Enchanted Heart, there was another age of Lysoria.
A Kingdom of Shadows, the second book in James E. Hamelton Jr.’s Heartbound Saga, is currently being written. It is a prequel set roughly 1,200 years before the first book, exploring the kingdom before its destruction.
A kingdom in bloom
This earlier Lysoria is a place of grand courtyards, living magic, and possibility. Queen Evanthe stands at the heart of its story: a graceful, empathetic ruler whose humanity matters as much as her crown.
The new artwork on the series page offers a glimpse of this age at its height. Its blue-and-gold banners, sunlit stone, and flourishing gardens introduce a different chapter of the same world.
Where it belongs in the saga
An Enchanted Heart remains Book One. A Kingdom of Shadows is Book Two in publication order, even though its events occur earlier. This is a new perspective on Lysoria’s history, with its discoveries left for the story itself.
